Binbot

Artist: Luke Hespanhol
Inspired by garbage bins from fun parks, the artist's idea is to transform the humble street bins, so characteristic of many Australian suburbs, into cute robots offering flowers to the passers by.
The core intention was to take an urban element - usually seen as ordinary street furniture - and reinterpret it in the context of the exhibition, bringing to the fore the concept of the robots taking over Sydney.
By unusually decorating a character so ubiquitous that it normally goes almost unnoticed, it is aimed to draw attention by generating a feeling of puzzlement on people going through their daily routine and suddenly encountering an unpredictable situation – not only on a garbage bin posing as a robot, but also as someone cheerfully offering flowers to strangers in the middle of the city noise.
